  • In this article we present the transformation of the paulista landscape on XIX Century. The coffee propel this transformation by means of the needs of new lands in São Paulo's west frontier. The deflowering necessary to cultivate the coffee in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Geraes and Espiritu Santo, is an important chapter in brazilian economic and ecological History. We study the transformation of the wild landscape in domesticated landscape. We present the economic/ecologic logic of the expansion in different ways. We also analyze the modifications on the landscape as the travelers see it. Finally, a clear exponent of xenobibliography, allow us to show the deflowering economic justification
