  La activación turística patrimonial, como proceso, comienza primero con la puesta en valor del referente patrimonial. Debe contar además con un entorno adecuado para su conservación y contemplación, además del respaldo y voluntad del poder político si la iniciativa surge desde un actor social. En todo proceso de activación turística patrimonial, la preservación, la articulación con otras políticas regionales y nacionales, la participación de la sociedad local y el capital humano serán factores claves en una planificación responsable que contribuya a diversificar la propuesta turística de un territorio concreto y que pueda contribuir a generar alguna incidencia positiva de orden social y económica en la zona.
