  • Spinal injuries in rugby occur as a result of the contact nature of the sport. Although these types of injuries are uncommon, every attempt should be made to reduce or eliminate them altogether. This article describes the mechanisms of rugby spinal injury in an effort to educate coaches and players. A strength and conditioning program is presented, which will address the risk factors linked to serious injury incidence.
