Resumen de Construcción y Tratamiento del "Dato" en un Estudio sobre Desnutrición Infantil

  A partir de aspectos metodológicos de un estudio llevado a cabo sobre los rasgos que caracterizan la representación social de la desnutrición infantil se presenta el tratamiento cuali cuantitativo del dato. Los enfoques cuantitativos tradicionales se caracterizan por el énfasis en la definición de variables. En la perspectiva adoptada en esta indagación se destaca el rol de la unidad de análisis como componente constitutivo de la matriz de datos que permite la integración y complementariedad de las técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas. Este desarrollo tuvo lugar en una investigación cuyo objetivo fue describir y analizar la complejidad de los aspectos contextuales y condicionantes que intervienen en el problema de la desnutrición infantil. Se trabajó en una primera etapa censando a los habitantes de un sector focalizado por un Centro Provincial de Salud. A través del análisis de los datos obtenidos se pudo identificar las familias críticas, dentro del contexto de vulnerabilidad de la población objeto. En un momento posterior, se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a madres de niños que concurren al Centro de Salud, obteniéndose una tipología de los atributos relacionados con las modalidades de la crianza. El discurso de las madres se sistematizó a través de las respuestas más características de acuerdo con las categorías semánticas más representativas. La articulación de las diferentes matrices de datos permitió poner de manifiesto los correspondientes niveles de integración de las unidades de análisis involucradas.

  Starting from methodological aspects of a study performed about features that characterized social representation of infantile malnutrition, qualitative and quantitative treatment of the data are presented. Traditional quantitative studies are characterized for the emphasis in the definition of the variables. The perspective adopted in this investigation emphasize the role of the unit analysis as a constitutive component of the matrix data that allows integration and complementarities of qualitative and quantitative techniques. The main goal of this investigation was to describe and to analyze the complexity of the context and conditions that take place in the problem of the infantile malnutrition. In the first stage of this study a census of population in an specific area determined by the Provincial Primary Health Care Center (PPHCC) was performed. Through out the analysis of the data obtained, critical families could be identified within the context of vulnerability of the study population. In the second stage, interviews with the child’s mother that attend to the PPHCC were performed and a typology of the attribute related with growing modalities were obtained. The discourse of the mothers was systematized through the most frequent answers according to most representative semantics categories. The articulation of the different matrix of data allowed to show the corresponding levels of integration of the analysis units involved.
