Resumen de La influencia del ajuste estrategia-estructura sobre el desempeño organizativo

  El interés de este estudio se centra en analizar empíricamente las relaciones entre la estrategia competitiva y la estructura operativa como factor de éxito empresarial dentro de una muestra de grandes empresas españolas. Siguiendo las directrices del enfoque contingente, examinamos las correspondencias observadas en la teoría, para poder determinar qué tipo de asociaciones estrategia-estructura se consideran más congruentes entre sí. El contraste empírico del modelo hipotético que refleja estas asociaciones nos indica que las estrategias de liderazgo en costes se asocian positivamente con estructuras de tipo mecánico y que las empresas en las que existe congruencia entre su estrategia y su estructura organizativa obtienen mejores resultados en términos económicos.

  This study has as its aim to empirically analyse relationships between competitive strategy and operative structure, and their role as a business success factor, with a sample of large Spanish firms. Following the guidelines of the contingent approach, we checked the correspondences observed in the theory in order to determine which strategy-structure associations are considered more consistent with one another. The empirical contrast of the hypothetical model shows us that the cost leadership strategies are positively associated with mechanistic structures, and also that firms in which there is consistency between strategy and structure obtain better results in terms of return on assets, return on sales, and return on equity
