  • This article describes two research projects that use specially designed curriculum materials enhanced by handheld computers to promote scientific enquiry and argumentation in school science. It describes the theoretical underpinnings that informed the design of the projects, provides detailed accounts of the characteristics of the associated instructional activities and discusses their potential in supporting enquiry-based science learning.
