    Actualment els mitjans de comunicació i els professionals de la informació semblen cada vegada més desprestigiats, encara quan resulta molt difícil viure en societat sense tenir informació. La llibertat de premsa no assegura necessàriament la llibertat d'expressió i aquesta no garanteix que el dret a la informació sigui satisfet. D'aquesta constatació es conclou que es requereix d'altres reflexions que aprofundeixin en qué és el que legitima l'activitat informativa deis mitjans de comunicació, les expectatives deis involucrats en el procés comunicatiu i la qualitat del treball periodístic.

    A través d'aquesta reflexió crítica sobre la legitimitat de l'exercici professional periodístic pretenem respondre a dues preguntes: si aquesta activitat es troba deslegitimada i, quin és l'origen de la seva auténtica legitimitat.

    Currently the media and the professionals of information seem every day more in disrepute, even when it is very difficult to live in society without having information. The freedom of press does not necessarily ensure freedom of expression and this does not guarantee that the right to information has been fulfilled. From this verification it is concluded that other reflections are required which deepen in what legitimates the media's informative activity, the expectations of those involved in the communication process and the quality of the journalistic work.

    Through this critical reflection regarding the legitimacy of the journalistic professional exercise we intend to answer two questions: if this activity had taken away its legitimacy and, what is the origin of its true legitimacy.
