Los años que van desde finales de la Tetrarquía a la consolidación de Constantino son uno de los períodos más turbulentos de la historia del siglo IV. Mientras se combatía en los campos de batalla, otros combates tenían lugar en espacios imaginarios, concretamente en el mundo de los sueños. Los sueños, visiones y pesadillas de Constantino, Licinio, Majencio y Maximino son otra forma de representar los enfrentamientos entre los contendientes. Los sueños se convierten en elemento propagandístico de primer orden, pero también son otra forma de expresar las desigualdades cotidianas, sean éstas políticas o sociales.

The years between the end of the Tetrarchy and the consolidation of Constantine comprise one of the most turbulent periods in the history of the 4th Century.
While combat was taking place on the battlefields, other struggles were occurring in imaginary spaces, specifically in the world of dreams. The dreams, visions and nightmares of Constantine, Licinius, Majencio and Maximinius are another form of representing the confrontations among the contenders. Dreams became a first order element of propaganda, but they were also another way of expressing everyday inequalities, be they political or social.
