  Cada vez es más frecuente la participación de la iniciativa privada en la financiación de todo tipo de infraestructuras de transporte a través de diferentes esquemas de colaboración público privada. Este tipo de proyectos, por sus especiales características, requieren a menudo de apoyos gubernamentales que los hagan viables, difíciles de valorar por los métodos tradicionales de valoración de inversiones. La teoría de opciones reales se muestra útil para definir y valorar este tipo de instrumentos.   Private initiative is becoming increasing common for the funding of different types of transport infrastructure through varying public�private partnership schemes. On account of their special nature, these types of project often require government contribution to make them viable and which is difficult to appraise by standard investment valuation methods. The real options theory is useful to define and evaluate these types of instrument.
