Resumen de Dessalar la Mediterrània? De quimera, negocis i béns comuns

La pressió per augmentar la producció d�aigua dessalada a la Mediterrània no para de créixer. A redós de la pobresa del bioma i de l�extraordinària expansió demogràfica, la indústria de la dessalació pretén facilitar la �solució� definitiva del problema de l�aigua en forma de garantia de subministrament il·limitat i assequible. La inexistència d�estàndards públics sobre la qualitat i de participació comunitària en la gestió fan de la dessalació un imant per al creixement de consums i activitats indesitjables. De fet, trasllada el problema de la custòdia d�un bé comú (l�aigua potable) al de l�acceleració dels riscos d�altres no menys crucials (un clima respirable, la seguretat nuclear). La dessalació esdevé un paradigma de com el capitalisme aprofita les crisis per generar nous creixements quimèrics.

The pressure to increase the production of desalinated water in the Mediterranean does not stop growing. In shelter of the poverty of the bioma and the extraordinary demographic expansion, the desalination industry intends to facilitate the definite "solution" of the water problem in the form of guarantee of unlimited and affordable supply. The nonexistence of public standards about the quality and of community participation in the management they make of the desalination a magnet for the growth of consumption and undesirable activities. As a matter of fact, the problem of the custody of a common good (the potable water) in that of the acceleration of the risks moves other not less crucial ones (a breathable climate, the nuclear security). The desalination becomes a paradigm of how the capitalism uses the crises to generate new chimeric growths.
