In order to improve learning processes in ecology studies at high school and university levels, it seems to us very important to develop field projects with real biological communities. Empirical contact of the students with natural ecosystems will foster their awareness and will permit to understand deeply some of the main ecological concepts. We use in this work wall plant communities to train our pupils with field sampling methodologies and the application of some basic mathematical methods to show our pupils the importance in modern Ecology of quantification of ecological phenomena.
