Un análisis discursivo del concepto de cultura

    Este artículo intenta dar cuenta de las razones de la centralidad del concepto de cultura en los países europeos en las últimas décadas y los diversos contenidos que los discursos académicos le han conferido. Se distingue entre por un lado un discurso clásico sobre la cultura con fundamento en la sociología y antropología que ha sido desplazado pero que sigue teniendo relevancia y que además ha sido (mal) utilizado en versiones simplistas y mercantilizadas de la problemática cultural. Por otro lado un discurso postmoderno ligado con el socialconstructivismo que crítica las debilidades de la concepción clásica y enfatiza nuevos rasgos de la cultura en la época global. La hipótesis del artículo es que aunque esta concepción captura aspectos centrales de la cultura actual también cae en dicotomías como las criticadas y contiene debilidades epistemológicas. Finalmente se aboga por una concepción más dialéctica de la cultura que combine logros teóricos de la concepción clásica y postmoderna de cultura.

    This article aims to explain the reasons of the centrality of the concept of culture in European countries in the last decades and the diverse contents that the academic discourses have conferred to it. A distinction is made between, on the one hand, a classic discourse on culture with foundations in sociology and anthropology that has been displaced but that continues to have relevance, and that in addition has been (mis)used in oversimplified and commercialized versions of the subject of culture. On the other hand a postmodern discourse related to social constructivism that criticizes the weaknesses of the classic conception and emphasizes new characteristics of the culture in a global time. The hypothesis of the article is that although this conception captures central aspects of the present culture, it also falls into dichotomies such as the criticized ones and contains epistemological weaknesses. Finally the article pleads for a more dialectic conception of culture that combine the achievements of the classic and the postmodern conception of culture.
