  Los museos anatómicos son instituciones permanentes, patrimonio de las naciones, cuyos objetivos básicos son: la conservación, investigación y difusión de piezas anatómicas con diversas patologías, fruto de largas disecciones y descripciones. Con la exhibición y enseñanza de la anatomía normal y patológica al servicio de la sociedad venezolana y eventualmente a la de otros países, se cumple con una ética fundamental. En la antigüedad, los museos sustituyeron las fotografías y otros medios de difusión de los aspectos anatómicos y anatomopatológicos. El primer museo organizado en Venezuela fue fundado por el Br. Rafael Rángel en el Hospital Vargas de Caracas. Actualmente son escasos los museos anatómicos y aún más en nuestro país. Representan el esfuerzo y constancia de generaciones de investigadores y organizadores así como un costo de las instituciones que los mantienen. Actualmente, en Venezuela, destacan, el museo anatomopatológico� Dr. Gustavo Bracho Villalobos� de la red de museos de la Universidad Centro-Occidental Lisandro Alvarado en el Estado Lara y el museo anatómico� Dr. Jesús Yerena� del Instituto Anatómico de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. También existen dos museos de patología cardiovascular: el museo de ASCARDIO y el del Instituto Anatomopatológico �Dr. José Antonio O�Daly� de la Universidad Central de Venezuela.

  Museums are permanent institutions, patrimony of nations, whose basic objectives are: the conservation, investigation and diffusion of anatomical pieces with diverse pathologies, fruit of long dissections and descriptions. Exhibition of normal and pathological anatomy is useful to Venezuelan society and possibly to other countries, it is it is also an ethical imperative. In antiquity, museums replaced photography and other means of diffusion of anatomical and pathologic aspects. The first museum organized in Venezuela was founded by the Br. Rafael Rángel in the Hospital Vargas of Caracas. At present anatomical museums in our country are scarse. They represent the effort of generations of investigators and organizers as well as a cost of the institutions that maintain them. At the moment, in Venezuela, there remain, the pathology museum � Dr. Gustavo Bracho Villalobos� of the net of museums of the University Lisandro Alvarado in the State Lara and the anatomical museum � Dr. Jesus Yerena� of the Anatomical Institute of the Central University of Venezuela. Also two museums of cardiovascular pathology exist: the museum of ASCARDIO and the one of the Institute of pathology �Dr. Jose Antonio Or' Daly� of the Central University of Venezuela.
