    • The purpose of this paper is to offer a review of past literature relating to ways in which the 'tourist experience' has been conceptualized. The paper includes theories of importance-evaluation, confirmationdisconfirmation, flow and involvement, among others. The implications of these different approaches for the adoption of any research method are also discussed.
