Literatura y cine: la cultura popular en Manuel Puig

    En este trabajo se analizará la importancia de la relación entre el cine, la literatura y la cultura popular en la obra del escritor argentino Manuel Puig (General Villegas, 1932). Se trata de una narrativa que se encuentra magistralmente estructurada bajo el sello del mundo cinematográfico y unida en gran medida al imaginario del mundo femenino y sentimental. Puig es uno de los escritores más importantes de las últimas décadas ya que ha destacado en el mundo de las letras por su magistral dominio de las técnicas literarias y su capacidad para crear un estilo propio que ha ido recibiendo un importante reconocimiento con el tiempo. Así en este análisis nos centraremos principalmente en dos de sus novelas más destacas: La traición de Rita Hayworth (1968) y El beso de la mujer araña (1976), aunque nuestro estudio siempre se desarrollará de forma comparativa y, por lo tanto, teniendo también en cuenta otros libros y cuestiones relacionadas con su autor.

    Veremos cómo Puig sintió una especial atracción por el universo de las stars, el cual produjo una gran influencia en su obra pues siempre entendió que en la literatura �también en la vida- tenía que estar latente un mundo artificial cuyo principal móvil sería el deseo. Es precisamente en el cine del Hollywood alrededor de las décadas del 30 y el 40 donde Puig siente una intensa fascinación por el lado más sutil de una estética de lo popular elevada a categoría de glamur. Así veremos las influencias de grandes directores de la época como Sternberg, Lubitsch o Hitchock, entre otros.

    In this work will be analyzed the importance of the relation between the cinema, the literature and the popular culture in the work of the Argentine writer Manuel Puig (General Villegas, 1932). It is a narrative that is structured masterfully under the stamp of the cinematographic world and mainly joined to the imaginary of the feminine and sentimental world. Puig is one of the most important writers of last decades since it has stood out in the world of the letters for his magisterial domain of the literary technologies and his aptitude to create an own style that has been receiving an important recognition eventually. Thereby in this analysis we will centre principally on two of his more important novels: La traición de Rita Hayworth (1968) and El beso de la mujer araña (1976), though our study will be always developed by a comparative form and, therefore, bearing other books and questions related to his author too. We will see how Puig felt a special attraction for the universe of the stars, which produced a great influence in his work since he always thought that literature - also life - had to be latent an artificial world which principal mobile would be the desire.

    It is precisely in the cinema of the Hollywood, mainly the decades of 30 and 40, where Puig feels an intense fascination for the subtlest side of an aesthetic of the popular culture risen up to category of glamour. So we will see the influences of the important directors of that time like Sternberg, Lubitsch or Hitchock, among others.
