The ages of the tufa terraces of the Dúrcal River, in the vicinity of Cónchar, were obtained through the amino acid racemization method, which define the begining of the fluvial incision and the successive periods of carbonate accumulation and destruction/incision. These processes are related with the evolution of the nearby Padul peat bog, in which the deactivation of the alluvial fans that fed this mire was produced at 400 ka coinciding with the uppermost tufa level formation at Cónchar and, therefore, with the dynamics of the Dúrcal river, which are probably linked to neotectonics.
