  • Resumen
    • Effects of pile-cap thickness and pile inclination on the distribution of displacements, stresses, axial forces, shear forces and bending moments in different piles in a group are investigated using a nonlinear three-dimensional finite element (FE) technique. An algorithm based on the interpolation of nodal displacements and finite difference approximation of the displacement field is developed to evaluate the bending moments and the shear forces in the piles and the pile cap. An automated scheme implemented in the code enables generation of a FE mesh for both vertical and inclined piles. Emphasis is given to identify the manner in which loads are shared by individual piles in the group.
