El divorcio en las primeras comunidades cristianas: una invitación al ideal y comprensión frente al fracaso

    Las primeras comunidades cristianas tuvieron distintas lecturas a un mismo problema: el divorcio. En efecto, resulta novedoso el modo cómo se abordó este tópico en los escritos bíblicos del Nuevo Testamento. La novedad se verifica, por una parte, en que si la ley de Moisés admitía el repudio dado a la mujer, Jesús dejará de manifiesto que aquello fue sólo “por la dureza de vuestro corazón”, puesto que “en el principio” (en el proyecto original de Dios) esto no estaba contemplado. La oferta de Dios al hombre siempre es tendente hacia el ideal, cuestión que Jesucristo deja claro a sus interlocutores. Sin embargo, frente a ese ideal sugerido se deja ver la realidad de la vida misma, en la que la fragilidad humana aparece con fuerza dañando el proyecto matrimonial. En las afirmaciones de Mateo y Pablo se sugiere una atención a problemas concretos que las primeras comunidades debieron enfrentar al respecto. El presente escrito analiza lo anterior y sugiere que, sin rebajar la propuesta del ideal del matrimonio indisoluble, habrá que poner mayor atención en el presente ante la realidad dolorosa que viven quienes han fracasado en el matrimonio.

    The first Christian communities developed different ways of facing the same problem: divorce. In fact the novel aspect is the way this topic was treated in biblical writings of the New Testament. Moses´ Law admitted female repudiation whereas, Jesus stated that it was only because of “the coldness of your heart”; since “in the beginning” (in God’s original project) all this was not contemplated. The offer that God makes to man is always aimed at the ideal, an issue that Jesus Christ explains clearly to his disciples. However, in front of that ideal suggested, we can clearly see the reality of life itself, in which human fragility strongly appears to be damaging the marital project. Special attentions to specific problems that first communities had to face in relation to that subject are suggested in Matthew’s and Paul’s statements. This essay analyses everything mentioned above and suggests that without diminishing the proposal of an indissoluble marriage, we should pay more attention to the present, especially in relation to the painful reality of those who have failed in marriage.
