El artículo refi ere la presencia de dos profesores del Colegio de San Juan Nepomuceno en Saltillo (1878-1914), quienes fueron miembros honorarios de la Sociedad �Antonio Alzate�. En el material, el autor apunta algunos elementos de la ciencia en Nueva España-México durante los siglos XVIII y XIX; señala quiénes fueron los jesuitas italianos Enrique Cappelletti y Pedro Spina; consigna lo que las Memorias de la Sociedad Alzate establecen sobre los trabajos de estos dos meteorólogos-astrónomos; y concluye su signifi cación en el ambiente marcadamente positivista de la época.

This article refers to the action of two Jesuit teachers of The San Juan Nepomuceno School of Saltillo (1878-1914), who were honorary members of The �Antonio Alzate� Society. In this paper, the author suggests some ideas about science in New Spain-Mexico during the XVIII and XIX centuries; it points out who were the Italian Jesuits Enrique Cappelletti and Pedro Spina;
thus it establishes what the Memories of the Alzate Society relate about these two meteorologists-astronomers; and concludes its signifi cance in a strongly positivistic environment of the era.
