    • SUMMARY: STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALISTS USE UPPER-BODY PUSH AND PULL PATTERNS IN AN ATTEMPT TO IMPROVE THE FORCE AND/OR VELOCITY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE UPPER-BODY MUSCULATURE. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE INFLUENCE FAULTY MECHANICS HAVE ON PERFORMANCE AND THE PREVALENCE OF OVERUSE INJURIES IN SPORT AND SPORT-SPECIFIC TRAINING, SCREENING AN ATHLETE'S UPPER-BODY MOVEMENT COMPETENCY BEFORE EXTENSIVE LOADING MAY PROVIDE INSIGHT INTO MOVEMENT STRATEGIES THAT ARE INEFFICIENT AND CONTRIBUTE TO INJURY
