La villa del Sauzal, en la isla de Tenerife, destacó durante el siglo XVII como una zona de gran producción vinícola. Durante esa centuria sobresalió sobremanera el hacendado Simón de Herrera Leiva, quien durante más de tres décadas adquirió los mejores viñedos de esa comarca, formando un gran patrimonio que desembocará en la fundación de un mayorazgo familiar.

During the seventeenth century, the village of «El Sauzal», in the Canary Island of Tenerife, gave due prominence, as an important area of wine production. At that time, projected exceedingly the landed Simón de Herrera Leiva, who for more than three decades, bought the best vineyards of the region, forming a great inheritance that ended in the foundation of a family entailed.
