La definición de la trayectoria vital del letrado valenciano Francisco Jerónimo de León constituye el objetivo del presente trabajo. El análisis del entorno personal, familiar y social, así como del acervo patrimonial de nuestro protagonista integra la primera parte del mismo. La carrera profesional y la evolución política del togado, mostrando las distintas di - mensiones de la actuación de un jurista dedicado al servicio regio, conforma la segunda de las temáticas abordadas. El texto concluye ofreciendo unos breves apuntes en torno a la obra doctrinal del magistrado, con el fin de subrayar la importancia que esta reviste para la cultura jurídica y política de la Valencia de comienzos del s. XVII.

The biography of the Valencian judge Francisco Jerónimo de León is the topic of this work. The analysis of his family circle and his social network, as well as the heritage of the protagonist constitutes the first part. The second one deals with the career and the politi- cal development of the magistrate, showing the different dimensions of the performance of a judge dedicated to the royal service. The article concludes with some notes about the doctri- nal work of the magistrate. Especially the importance of his doctrinal work for the legal and political culture of Valencia at the beginning of the 17th century will be outlined.
