Varias son las hipótesis que se han esgrimido para el origen del líbico-bereber: por una parte, las tesis evolucionistas que defienden sus inicios en la derivación de alguna escritura, mientras que otras insisten en la creatividad de los pueblos bereberes para la construcción de su sistema gráfico. El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar los argumentos que han utilizado los defensores de las diferentes teorías, además de examinar los hechos en los que se han basado.

ere are various hypothesis asserting the libyco-berber origen; on one hand, the evolucionist thesis that defends the beginnings in the derivation of certain writings, while others maintain the creativity of the berber people concerning construction and their graphic system. e objective of the present article is the examinition of the reasoning defended by the different theories, together with the study of the facts on which they have been based.
