The paper examines recent change in the access to and uses made of technologies that could feed Town and Country Planning endeavour. Analysis is made of accessing geographic information over internet systems (geo-visual scanners and special data banks) and the importance of being able to do so when planning (freeing up access to data and a greater scope for public participation). The author likewise offers some examples of the promise of Geographic Information Technology for Town and Country Planning and gives special attention to the putting into practice of multi-criteria methodologies and the usefulness of these in aptitude and impact studies, facilities and services accessing and, last but not least, the following up on and simulation of spatial cum-temporal urban processes.
