The Article aims to give a picture of the current state of the adoption of information technology for urban planning from the perspective of the experience in this of an autonomous region, namely Castilla y León.
It is here felt that advances over recent years in the implementation of information technologies in urban design have been amazing, but that much remains yet to be done and many challenges are yet to be overcome. This notwithstanding, it is felt that there is now no going back there and that the path that information and urban management have been following can only lead to an overall bettering of things.
