  Un nuevo cultivar de trigo duro o cristalino, Banámichi C2004, fue desarrollado para las áreas productoras de trigo del noroeste de México. Este cultivar fue obtenido en el Campo Experimental Valle del Yaqui (CEVY) del Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales Agrícolas y pecuarias (INIFAP) y registrado con el número 1732-TRI-061-030505-C en el Servicio Nacional de Inspección y Certificación de Semillas (SNICS). Banámichi C2004 es resistente a la nueva raza BBG/BN de roya de la hoja (Puccinia triticina Eriksson), con rendimientos de 5.5 a 6.2 t ha-1 y buena calidad del grano para el mercado de exportación. Banámichi C2004 supera en forma consistente al testigo Júpare C2001, tanto en la capacidad de producir proteína en grano como en el contenido de pigmento amarillo en el endospermo y en la fuerza del gluten. Banámichi C2004 puede crecer durante el ciclo otoño-invierno en los estados de Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa y Sonora.

  A new variety of durum wheat, Banámichi C2004, was developed for the wheat-producing areas in northwestern Mexico. This variety was produced in the Yaqui Valley Experimental Station (CEVY) of the National Forestry, Agriculture and Livestock Research Institute (INIFAP) and registered with the number 1732-TRI- 061-030505-C in the National Seed Inspection and Certification Service (SNICS). Banámichi C2004 is resistant to the new BBG/BN breed of wheat rust (Puccinia triticina Eriksson), and has yields of 5.5 to 6.2 t ha-1 and good grain quality for the export market. Banámichi C2004 surpasses the control Júpare C2001 in a consistent manner, in the protein-producing capacity in the grain as in the content of yellow pigment in the endosperm and in the strength of gluten. Banámichi C2004 can grow in the autumn-winter cycle in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa and Sonora.
