This article analyzes the role of the comprehensive views in the work of the philosopher John Rawls. As I defend, the comprehensive views are a key aspect in this authors proposal. First, they are essential to articulate his thesis concerning the political turn since the eighties. Th is transition is possible because of the greater relevance conceded to the comprehensive views. Secondly, they are necessary to understand the idea of overlapping consensus and the social stability. Finally, they constitute the grounds of the political culture, which has the elements of the political conception of justice defended by Rawls.
