Poder e escolástica no Ocidente Medieval

    In this work we will comment on some issues about the narrow relation which exists between the scholastic doctrine and political debate which took place in the medieval west after the XI century, between the Papacy and the incipient royalty. Taking the analysis of contemporary authors and scholastic authorities as guideline we will show the narrow relation between the royalty birth and the scholastic apogee. This philosophic doctrine expressed, undoubtedly, the way of being of medieval men in different periods in the Middle Ages. It is important to highlight that as the medieval society evolved and consolidated, promoting the rebirth of cities and commerce, in addition to the emergence of Universities and the Mendicant Orders, the strength correlation between both powers altered significantly, due to new horizons which were open to men.

    Neste artigo teceremos algumas considerações sobre a estreita relação existente entre a doutrina escolástica e o debate político travado no Ocidente medieval, a partir do século XI, entre o papado e a nascente realeza. Tendo como fio condutor a análise de autores contemporâneos e de algumas autoridades escolásticas, apontaremos a estreita relação entre o nascimento da Realeza e o apogeu da Escolástica. Esta doutrina filosófica expressou, indubitavelmente, a forma de ser dos homens medievais em diferentes épocas da Idade Media. Deve-se assinalar que, à medida que a sociedade medieva se desenvolvia e consolidava, promovendo o renascimento das cidades e do comércio, bem como o surgimento das Universidades e das Ordens Mendicantes, a correlação de força entre os dois poderes se alterava, significativamente, em virtude dos novos horizontes que se desenhavam aos homens.
