El pasado: una memoria fotográfica

    El presente estudio discute el tema de la memoria en la novela El pasado (2003), del escritor argentino Alan Pauls, que se centra, especialmente, en el archivo fotográfico de la pareja protagonista que, pese a su divorcio, pareciera nunca separarse del todo. Las perspectivas que ambos personajes adoptan frente a ese archivo son relacionadas con los conceptos de studium y punctum propuestos por Barthes, y el archivo de Derrida. Bajo estas conceptualizaciones, considero a las fotografías como motores de la acción, cifras de la tensión entre recuerdo y olvido, estrategias de control sobre el otro, prolongaciones materiales y fantasmales del pasado (spectrum barthesiano) y soportes escriturales.

    This study discusses the theme of memory in the novel El pasado (2003), by the argentinian writer Alan Pauls, which explores the subject of a divorced couple and their relationship, associated to their joint photographic files; despite their divorce, it seems that they will never split up. Their respective points of view on that photographic archive are related to Barthes´ concepts studium and punctum, and to Derrida´s archive. Under these conceptualizations, I consider the photographies as motors of the action, as ciphers of the tension between memory and oblivion, as strategies to maintain control over the other, as physical and ghostly (Barthes´ spectrum) prolongations of the past, and also as writing supports.
