Resumen de Política de premios de la Secretaría Científica de SEMES como herramienta para estimular la investigación

  Entre los objetivos y fines primordiales de la Sociedad Española de Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias (SEMES) se encuentran tanto el fomentar la investigación en el ámbito de la Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias (MUE), como el promover su difusión a través de la propia revista oficial de nuestra sociedad, EMERGENCIAS, como de otras revistas biomédicas, tratados, libros, manuales, reuniones científicas, etc. La Secretaría Científica de SEMES, consciente de la importancia vital de incluir la investigación y la promoción científica en la actividad habitual de los urgenciólogos, decidió hace cinco años implantar una política de premios para estimular la investigación y la consecución final de artículos científicos de calidad derivados de ésta. En este artículo especial se analizan, desde su inicio, el desarrollo y evolución de las distintas convocatorias de los premios que SEMES otorga cada año y que se dan a conocer coincidiendo con la celebración del Congreso Nacional de SEMES. Se pretende, por un lado, rendir homenaje a los urgenciólogos investigadores que durante estos años han conseguido el reconocimiento a sus trabajos, y por lo tanto han sido premiados, y por otro, recordar el acierto de los responsables que el año 2007 apostaron por iniciar esta política.

  Stimulating new research in our specialty is one of the main objectives of the Spanish Society of Emergency Medicine (SEMES). The association's policy goes hand in hand with the promotion and publication of such research through our own journal, Emergencias, or through other means, such as other biomedical journals, monographic publications, books, manuals, and conference proceedings. Aware that emergency physicians should engage in research regularly, the scientific secretary of SEMES established a series of awards 5 years ago with the aim of promoting studies and publishing subsequent reports. On the occasion of our association's national conference, this paper analyzes the history of the SEMES awards program from its introduction through the first years of its implementation. We aim to highlight the work of the emergency physicians whose research has been recognized during these years, emphasizing that this 2007 initiative of the scientific secretariat has proven to have been a wise decision.
