La demarcación científica: Una cuestión olvidada en los estudios turísticos latinoamericanos

    En este artículo se asegura que, a pesar de que todo investigador desea que sus trabajos sean respetables y merecedores del título �cientí- fico�, raros son aquellos que han asimilado con suficiente seriedad la epistemología en el turismo, y de estos la mayoría (si no todos) no se ha tomado la molestia de comprender los criterios que determinan lo que es ciencia y lo que no es ciencia (la demarcación científica).

    Sus �esfuerzos intelectuales� han quedado en pura palabrería, simulaciones, disimulos y hasta en galimatías.

    La tesis que se defiende aquí es que no puede haber cientificidad en el discurso académico del turismo, si no hay un desarrollo intelectual, entre sus estudiosos, en cuanto a corpus teóricos, empíricos, metodológicos y hasta filosóficos; pero también si no se da un desarrollo moral, en lo referente a valores de honestidad, congruencia y objetividad tanto en sus prácticas educativas como en sus publicaciones.

    This article says that although the researcher wants his work to be respectable and worthy of the title �scientific�, rare are those who have treated seriously enough the epistemology in tourism, and of these the most (if not all) has not bothered to understand the criteria that determine what is science and what is not science (the scientific demarcation). His �intellectual efforts� have remained on only verbiage, simulations, dissimulations, and even in gibberish.

    The thesis defended here is that there can not be science in the academic discourse of tourism, if there is not intellectual development among its students, in terms of corpus theoretical, empirical, methodological and even philosophical, but also if there is not a moral development, in terms of values of honesty, consistency and objectivity in its educational practices and in their publications.
