    Se confeccionó y administró un cuestionario que consta de 36 afirmaciones con una escala Likert, que indaga las concepciones de los estudiantes acerca de la naturaleza del conocimiento sobre tres aspectos, Los tres aspectos son: conocimiento en general, conocimiento científico y modelos científicos. Alcanzar cierta comprensión sobre la naturaleza de la ciencia y del conocimiento científico es un objetivo esencial en la enseñanza que debería consolidarse en niveles universitarios y terciarios. Por ello, se investigaron las concepciones de 32 estudiantes de primer año de universidad y 33 de un instituto terciario. Los resultados globales muestran que no existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre ambos grupos de alumnos. Además, indican que ideas aceptadas por la comunidad científica sobre la naturaleza de las ciencias no son asimiladas por los estudiantes durante sus cursos de ciencias

    A questionnaire that includes 36 statements using a Likert scale for investigating the student�s conceptions on three aspects about the nature of knowledge has been constructed and applied.

    The three aspects are: general knowledge, scientific knowledge and scientific models. To reach some understanding about the nature of science and scientific knowledge is a main target in education that should be consolidated at university and tertiary level. The conceptions of 32 freshman students and 33 students from tertiary level institute were investigated. Overall results show no significant differences between these two groups of students. They also indicate that ideas commonly accepted by the scientific community on the nature of sciences are not assimilated by students during their science courses
