    • An appropriate model of a generating source is essentially required in generation expansion analysis. Although the output of a wind turbine generator (WTG) depends on both temperature and wind velocity, so far the variation of temperature has not been considered for modelling a WTG. This paper presents a methodology for developing a model of a WTG, incorporating the variations of both temperature and wind velocity. The model is based on the concept of the multistate representation of a generating unit. The probability density function (PDF) of the capacity output of a WTG is derived from the joint distribution of temperature and wind velocity. This paper justifies the use of the bivariate function of temperature and wind velocity as the basic data of the model. The proposed model is applied to the generation expansion analysis of an isolated area.
