Resumen de De la teoría al indio. Experiencias de investigación de Theodor Koch-Grünberg

Este artículo esboza parte de la obra del etnólogo alemán Theodor Koch-Grünberg (1872- 1924), la cual es el resultado de sus investigaciones en el suroccidente brasileño y en gran parte del Vaupés colombiano. El texto describe el inicio de su carrera como etnólogo y resalta algunos apartes específicos de su experiencia en las expediciones del río Xingú (1899), el alto Río Negro (1903) y en el territorio de Roraima (1911). Esta información inédita ha sido rescatada de los diarios de expedición de Koch-Grünberg, y permite conocer no solo detalles concernientes a la investigación misma, sino también los puntos de vista del investigador, así como sus experiencias y relaciones con los indígenas. Aquí se evidencian también aspectos característicos de los procesos de cambio en la etnología a comienzos del siglo xx, que dieron un gran paso de la teoría a la práctica.

This article reviews part of the research work carried out by the German ethnologist, Theodor Koch-Grünberg (1872-1924) in southwestern Brazil and a large part of the Vaupés region in Colombia. The text describes the beginnings of Koch-Grünberg�s career as an ethnologist and highlights specific aspects of his experience during the expeditions to the Xingú River (1899), the upper Río Negro (1903), and the territory of Roraima (1911). This previously unpublished information, retrieved from Koch-Grünberg�s expedition logs, makes it possible to learn about the specific details of his research work, the researcher�s points of view, and his experiences and relations with the indigenous populations. It also makes evident some of the aspects that characterized the process of change in ethnology at the beginning of the 20th century, marked by the transition from theory to practice.
