    Con el objeto de determinar el patrón poblacional y el daño causado en las hojas por Spodoptera frugiperda en el Sistema de Producción Continua de Maíz (SPCM) se estableció un experimento del 2001 al 2003, utilizando trampas y la feromona sexual Trece R. El patrón poblacional de adultos de S. frugiperda fue diferente en los años estudiados, pero no significativamente diferentes, como tampoco el daño foliar promedio (DFP) o la precipitación anual.

    Durante junio-septiembre de 2001 se capturó el 81% anual de adultos, en el 2002 de octubre a diciembre se capturó el 49% de adultos, en el 2003, 52% de los adultos se capturaron de enero-abril. La máxima captura se correlacionó con el daño foliar en los tres años. Los datos se analizan considerando el impacto del huracán Isidoro en septiembre del 2002.

    An experiment was set up from 2001 to 2003 with traps and the sexual pheromone Trece R in order to determine the population pattern and the damage caused to leaves by Spodoptera frugiperda in the Continuous Maize Production System (SPCM). The population pattern of S. frugiperda adults was different throughout the years of study, although not significantly so, and neither was the average foliar damage (DFP) or the annual precipitation.

    The capture of adults during June-September 2001 corresponded to 81% of the yearly collection, while in 2002 49% of the total was collected from October to December, and in 2003 52% of the adults were collected from January to April. The greatest capture of specimens was correlated with the leaf damage over the three years. The data are discussed in relation to the impact of Hurricane Isidore that affected the area in September 2002.
