La andinización de la ciudad de ayacucho. ¿La reconquista andina del espacio urbano?

    The Andean culture is historically associated with an exclusively rural territory. However, today, after several decades of an accelerated urbanization process in Peru, a big part of the Andean population is urban. Ayacucho is a particularly interesting example as this phenomenon radically changed the configuration of the city. This study shows how the massive arrival of migrants from the rural areas of the region induced a progressive andinisation of the city. First relegated to the periphery, they gradually conquered its central spaces, transforming what was still a little colonial town in 1940 into a big and deeply Andean city.

    L�andin est historiquement associé à un territoire exclusivement rural. Pourtant aujourd�hui, après plusieurs décennies d�un processus d�urbanisation accélérée au Pérou, une grande partie de la population andine est urbaine. Ayacucho est un exemple particulièrement intéressant dans la mesure où ce phénomène a complètement bouleversé la configuration de la ville. On a en effet assisté à une véritable andinisation du centre urbain induite par l�arrivée massive des migrants issus des zones rurales de la région. Relégués dans un premier temps à la périphérie de la ville, ils ont progressivement conquis ses espaces centraux et ont transformé ce qui était encore en 1940 un petit bourg seigneurial en une grande ville fondamentalement andine.
