    • TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT HAS BECOME A VIABLE TREATMENT OPTION IN TREATING KNEE JOINT OSTEOARTHRITIS. PEOPLE SELF-REPORT DIFFICULTY WITH MANY ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING BECAUSE OF JOINT DEGENERATION. WHEN ASSESSING THESE INDIVIDUALS AFTER KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY AND REHABILITATION, THEY PRESENT WITH QUADRICEPS WEAKNESS IN THE INVOLVED LIMB. THEY ARE WEAKER AND SLOWER IN MOBILITY TESTS THAN AGE-MATCHED CONTROLS, AND THEY RELY INCREASINGLY ON THE NONOPERATED LIMB FOR SUPPORT. THIS PAPER PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF KNEE JOINT REPLACEMENT AND THE POTENTIAL ROLE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROFESSIONALS HAVE IN PROVIDING INSTRUCTION AND EDUCATION TO INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROCEDURE.
