The old question, whether man is a machine is brought up again and tackled by use of the ,,computational paradigm'', which, hand in hand with findings of Evolutionary Biology and Neurosciences, Neuropsychoanalysis included, allows a new answer. This answer is supported by Artificial Life research, too. A new step to a further question, whether machines can be free becomes possible and gets an answer, which is outlined. This helps to overturn positions, which rely on fictions to ground free will and related concepts.
