  • Resumen
    • This research study focused on the tiering of academic hospitality and tourism journals. Ninety-three hospitality program administrators responded to the tiering survey and 31% indicated their programs had established tiers.

The major reasons for tiering were for promotion and salary purposes. An average of 5.7 journals make up the top tier. Repondents believe that tiering is inevitable. The top four journals having the most influence on admin- istrative decisions are Journal of Hospitality&Tourism Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly and International Journal of Hospitality Management.
