Presentamos un análisis estadístico e histórico del auge y declive de los masones cubanos durante el periodo 1945- 1980, basado en nuestro estudio demográfico de esta institución. Nuestro trabajo identifica, y evalúa cuantitativamente, importantes factores que han contribuido, primero al crecimiento, y luego a declive de su membresía, en los primeros 30 años de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. A la vez, el trabajo introduce el uso de nuevas herramientas de análisis, utilizadas exitosamente en otras áreas de las humanidades y de las ciencias sociales.

We present a statistical and historical analysis of the growth and decline of Cuban Freemasons during the period 1945-1980, based on our demographic study of this institution. Our work identifies, and quantitatively evaluates, important factors that have contributed, first to the growth, and then to the decline of its membership, in the first thirty years of the second half of the 20th century. At the same time, this research introduces the use of new analysis tools, successfully used in other areas of the humanities, and in the social sciences.
