El presente ensayo justifica históricamente la elección de un sitio que alguna vez se conoció como "Barranca blanca", como el lugar donde la Universidad Adventista del Plata (UAP) levan-tará un monumento conmemorativo. Allí en casa de Reinhardt Hetze y su familia se realizó la primera actividad misional de Jorge H. Riffel, primer misionero y difusor de la fe adventista en el cono sur de América. Deja claro, también, que allí nació el proyecto de la primera congrega-ción adventista y de la primera institución educativa, hoy Universidad Adventista del Plata.

The present essay justifies in a historical way the election of the site once known as "Barranca Blanca" as the place where Universidad Adventista del Plata will raise a commemorative mo-nument. There, in the house of Reinhardt Hetze and his family, the first missionary activity was carried out by Jorge H. Riffel, first messenger of the Adventist faith in South America. This article makes it clear that it was in that place where the projects of the first Adventist congrega-tion and the first educational institution, nowadays Universidad Adventista del Plata, were born.
