Hace poco más de 20 años se reunificaron los dos estados alemanes y de esta manera entró en el concierto mundial una Alemania fortalecida.
La gran mayoría de los analistas alemanes alemanes defendió en un comienzo la tesis de que la política exterior de la Alemania reunificada era simplemente la continuación de la política exterior de la República Federal de Alemania antes de la caída del muro; sin embargo esto ha venido cambiando desde finales de la década de los noventa. Cuál ha sido la política exterior de la RFA desde su reunificación, cómo han reaccionado los diferentes gobiernos de turno ante los conflictos internacionales, qué debates se han dado al interior y preguntas para el futuro son las cuestiones que están en la base del presente artículo.

Little more than 20 years ago the two German states were unified and in that form one new stronger Germany entered the world scenario. The majority of the German analysts argued that the foreign policy of the reunified Germany was not more than the continuity of the foreign politics of the Federal Republic of Germany before the fall of the wall; however, this opinion is changing after the end of the nineties. Which has been the foreign policy of the FRG after the reunification, how has been the reaction of the different governments in face of the international conflicts, what kinds of discussions have developed in the country, as well as challenges of the future are among the issues examined in this article.
