Este artículo, basándose en las fuentes árabes, analiza los sucesos que llevaron a ‘Abd al-Raḥmān I a emigrar a la Península Ibérica tras ser derrocada la familia Omeya por los Abbasíes. Asimismo, describe los primeros pasos del establecimiento el emirato independiente de Córdoba y, como muestra del refinamiento cultural de la comunidad árabe inmigrante, que se afincó en el emirato al amparo de ‘Abd al-Raḥmān I y ocupó las más altas esferas sociales, traduce una selección casidas compuestas por el propio emir.
According to Arabic sources, this article analyzes the incidents that forced ‘Abd al-Raḥmān to emigrate to the Iberian Peninsula, after the Umayyads were overthrown by the Abbasids. In the other hand, describes the first steps to establishing the Umayyad emirate of Cordoba, and, finally, as a sign of the cultural refinement of the immigrated Arab community sheltered by ‘Abd alRaḥmān that were at the top of the social hierarchy, translates a selection of qasidas written by the emir oneself.
