  Este ensayo analiza los modos en que el film de Stanley Kubrick Eyes Wide Shut (1999) expone las limitaciones del orden patriarcal y reivin-dica un espacio para la subjetividad y deseo femeninos. Se estudia cómo la estructura narrativa del film quiebra el orden iterativo machis-ta que rige la vida de los Harford a través de una "estética de interrupciones" que repetidamente niega la consumación del acto sexual al protagonista masculino. En estos términos, Kubrick emplea una serie de herramientas estilísticas que sitúan al film dentro de la experimen-tación genérica con el fin de mostrar el carácter polisemántico y fluido del deseo sexual, y el poder de lo contingente en el desmoronamiento del universo machista que se establece en el inicio del film.

  This essay analyzes the ways in which Stanley Kubrick's film, Eyes Wide Shut (1999) exposes the limitations of the patriarchal order to assert a space for female subjectivity and desire. It studies how the narrative structure of the film destroys the machist iterative order that organizes the Harford's life through an "aesthetic of interruptions" that repeatedly denies the male protagonist's sexual fulfilment. Within this scenario, Kubrick deploys a series of stylistic tools that situate the film within a field of generic experimenta-tion to show the polysemantic and fluid character of sexual desire and the power of contingency to shred into pieces the machist universe that is established in the beginning of the film.
