Del 27 de octubre al 5 de noviembre de 2005, los suburbios de París fueron escenario de disturbios que se caracterizaron por el incendio de autos y por violentos enfrentamientos entre cientos de jóvenes y la policía francesa. Estos acontecimientos dejaron al descubierto los límites de los procesos de integración, choque y aculturación que se generan con la llegada de inmigrantes que actualmente son vistos bajo la óptica de seguridad. La percepción que de los inmigrantes surge al interior de las sociedades de recepción cuestiona la capacidad del Estado de bienestar de integrarlos a la sociedad garantizando a oriundos y extraños seguridad.

Between October 27th and November 5th f 2005, the suburbs of Paris were the scene of riots that were characterized by setting cars on fire and by violent confrontations between hundreds of young people and the French police. These events showed the limits of the integration processes, the crashes and resistances that are generated by the arrival of immigrants, and that are currently viewed from a security perspective. The increasing migration around the globe raises many challenges for the receiving countries. In fact, violent acts and terrorism associated with global migration have generated not only xenophobic reactions within the society that receives immigrants, but it also questions the capacity of Welfare States to incorporate them into their society.
