Resumen de INDUSTRIA CULTURAL Y CONSUMO LINGÜÍSTICO

En el presente artículo se intenta establecer la relación entre la noción de Industria Cultural (Horkheimer y Adorno, 1971) y el uso del cual es objeto la lengua como herramienta de mediación dentro de ese aparataje masificador. En este sentido, se hace referencia al significado e impacto de la Industria Cultural dentro del contexto actual, a la noción ampliada de competencia lingüística (Halliday, 1982) y a su importancia como capital lingüístico y base de la distinción (Bourdieu, 1998). Así mismo, se analiza el rol de la lengua como instrumento de acción y de poder y los mecanismos de simplificación y reducción empleados por la Industria Cultural, específicamente en el contexto venezolano. Se concluye con una reflexión acerca de las ideas expuestas en la cual se expone cómo ésta concreta sus intereses de dominación a través de la creación de un mercado lingüístico, cuyas relaciones entre oferta y demanda están caracterizadas por la pobreza y limitación lingüísticas.

The intention of this article is to establish the relation between the notion of Cultural Industry (Horkheimer y Adorno, 1971) and the use of language as a mediation tool within such a massifying apparatus. In this sense, one refers to the significance and impact of the Cultural Industry in the present context, to the broad notion of linguistic competence (Halliday, 1982) and to its importance as a linguistic capital and as a distinction basis (Bourdieu, 1998). In the same way, the role of language as an action and power instrument and the simplification and reduction mechanisms used by the Cultural Industry, specifically in the Venezuelan context are being analyzed. One concludes with a reflection on the ideas expressed in which one exposes how this industry concretes its domination interests through the creation of a linguistic market whose offer and demand relations are characterized by linguistic limitations and linguistic poverty.
