El Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca, a lo largo de sus casi cuarenta años de historia, ha dedicado un papel importante a la animación.
Durante quince ediciones el festival contó con un premio, el Danzante de plata, otorgado al mejor cortometraje de animación. A partir de 1997, la animación pasó a integrarse en el conjunto de la producción de cortometrajes, comenzando a competir con la totalidad de lenguajes cinematográficos. Además, el evento oscense ha configurado diversos homenajes y retrospectivas, así como dedicado publicaciones a importantes figuras dentro del panorama de la animación internacional. Throughout their nearly forty-years history, the Huesca International Film Festival has devoted an important space to animation. During fifteen editions the festival featured a prize for the Best Animated Short, the Silver Dancer. Since 1997, animation entered the overall production of short films, compiting with other film languages. In addition, the event at Huesca has set various tributes and retrospectives, as well as several books devoted to international major figures at the animation scene have been published.
