Sémiotique des passions : La pitié et ses formes dans La Modification de Michel Butor

    This article which examines the forms of pity in La modification of Michel Butor, bears on questions that refer to the semiotics of the passions, especially those within the discursivation moods. This new field of investigation is mainly nourished from the concrete analysis of literary texts. And this is the cause of this simple intervention wich studies a text of one of the most illustrious La modification is the story of a transformation process that affects the project, the representations and perceptions of the character, but also his passions, among others, pity, and especially two of its co-existing forms, that are called, according to Jacques Fontanille, pity-scorn and pity of compassion. Our approach wich is located far from a psychological perspective or even psychoanalytical or philosophical, is based on a semiotic approach, namely the theory of Greimas and his followers (J. Fontanille, D. Bertrand, C. Zilberberg, A. Henault ...). Our objectiv is to identify the different forms of this passion, but also to describe their discursive development in the text to establish then the passional configurations passionate and textual representations of these forms of pity.

    Cet article, consacré aux formes de la pitié dans La Modification de Michel Butor, prend appui sur des questions qui renvoient à la sémiotique des passions, notamment à celles qui relèvent de la discursivation des états d�âme. Ce nouveau champ d�investigation se nourrit essentiellement de l�analyse concrète des textes littéraires. La Modification est l�histoire d�un processus de transformations qui affecte les projets, les représentations et les perceptions du personnage, mais aussi ses passions, entre autre, la pitié, et notamment deux de ses deux formes que Jacques Fontanille nomme la pitié-mépris et la pitié-compassion. Notre approche loin de se situer dans une perspective psychologique ou même psychanalytique ou philosophique, se fonde sur la sémiotique de Greimas et ses continuateurs (J. Fontanille, D. Bertrand, C. Zilberberg, A. Hénault�). Il s�agit de déceler les différentes formes de cette passion, mais aussi de décrire leur mise en discours dans le texte pour en dégager les configurations passionnelles et les représentations textuelles.
