Current trends in restoration in Italy. Giovanni Carbonara's career as an architect bears witness to the vasic voction of the critical conservative discipline of architectural restoration, the direct legacy of Cesare Brandi. The lucidity of his discourse stems from his rigorous research, his tireless educational endeavour as a lecturer on the history of architecture and architectural restoration, his direction of post-graduates and doctoral theses, his work as a creative architect, apart from hir team work with the highly qualified lecturers in his department of the history of architecture and the post-graduate school and his presence in the executive committees of the numerous magazines he collaborates in.
