    The familiar violence against children and adolescents presents, in the present-day context, as one of the principal expressions of the social question. However, it doesn�t represents a phenomenon built in the present time; this form of violence reveals during all the childhood and adolescence history in the world scenery, being permeated by cultural and structural values witch contribute for the confirmation of violence cycles that go by the history and affirm itself nowadays. In your different faces � the physical violence, the negligence, the sexual violence and the psychological violence � this problematic comes demanding of society, of the acting professionals in the area and, in a general way, of the several governmental spheres, not only the statement of its existence, but, mainly, actions that make to reduce your consequences and contribute for your elimination. The present article has as objective to discuss the familiar violence problematic against children and adolescents, pointing out, thereby, concepts that make viable its comprehension, your principal characteristics and expressions, as well as to context the view of that violence in the city of Ponta Grossa and, as a general rule, in the Brazilian context.

    A violência familiar contra crianças e adolescentes apresenta-se, no contexto atual, como uma das principais expressões da questão social. Contudo, ela não representa um fenômeno construído na época presente; esta forma de violência se revela durante toda a história da infância e da adolescência no cenário mundial, sendo permeada por valores culturais e estruturais que contribuem para a confirmação de ciclos de violência que perpassam a história e se afirmam atualmente. Em suas diferentes faces � a violência física, a negligência, a violência sexual e a violência psicológica � esta problemática vem exigindo da sociedade, dos profissionais atuantes na área e, de forma geral, das diversas esferas governamentais, não apenas a afirmação de sua existência, mas, principalmente, ações que possam diminuir suas conseqüências e contribuir para sua eliminação. O presente artigo tem como objetivos discutir a problemática da violência familiar contra crianças e adolescentes, apontando, para tanto, conceitos que viabilizem sua compreensão, as suas principais características e expressões, assim como contextualizar o panorama dessa violência no Município de Ponta Grossa e, de forma geral, no contexto brasileiro.
